Blog Post #9
When I had to participate in distance learning due to COVID, my school district primarily used Google Meet to set up virtual synchronus class. This was because our district already had a partnership with Google, so we used their applications such as Google Classroom, Google Docs, and Google Slides. I believe this was pretty effective because all assignments were in the same place, and they transferred well when presenting and sharing on Google Meet. I would've liked to experiment with other technology like Microsoft Word and Canvas, so that I could have used that time to practice for college. This would've made me more experienced with technology for distance learning, especially for my asynchronous classes here at FSU.
After completing assignment 4, I feel much more confident in my PowerPoint abilities. Before this, I had never even opened PowerPoint. I did appreciate that many of the features were similar to Word, so I was able to understand most of the features. I will definitely use these skills and more to complete Assignment 5. I also learned how to present in a way that is engaging for students, especially through distance learning. I was able to record and give an interesting lesson for those who may not be able to physically attend class for various reasons. I liked this assignment, but found it challenging to decide on how much information to include.
So far, I don't have any big questions on this course! I am excited to begin the final project, and I feel like my group has a good idea as a starting point. I think assignment 5 will also be fun, and I plan to do a jeopardy-style game as well. The only question I have would be to ask for a little more detail on the research study we must participate in, as I am a little unclear on that.
