Blog Post #8

When designing my website, I especially focused on the design principles of creating just the right amount of white space. I tried to ensure the website was neither overstimulating nor hard to read, and neither boring nor repetitive. I really liked that this assignment enabled me to learn about how to add different features, links, and platforms into a single website in a way that made it super easy. I can use these website designing skills to ensure that both students and parents can easily get all the information they need in one place.

One creative way I could use QR codes in my classroom is by making a QR scavenger hunt for the children. I would place different QR codes around the room that would take them to short questions, clues, or videos that correspond. Students would scan each code with their device, solve the task, and then move to the next QR code. This would make learning more interactive and help students move around and collaborate while also learning the lesson.

A teacher uses generative AI to quickly create lesson plans and provide feedback on student essays. However, the teacher copies the AI-generated feedback directly to students without checking it carefully or making personal changes.

In this case, I would still use AI to help create ideas for lesson plans or feedback, but I would make sure to review and edit everything before using it in the classroom. Teachers should make sure the information is accurate and appropriate for their class level. I would also add my own comments so that the feedback feels more personal and helpful for the students. This is an ethical solution because it uses technology to increase productivity while still keeping the teacher responsible for the final lesson plan.

  1. Hi! I really enjoyed exploring your website, it looks super clean and professional!

For contrast, the black, white, and gray color scheme creates a strong and readable design. The bold “Leon High School” header stands out really well, and your buttons are easy to notice. One suggestion would be to add a bit more color contrast in certain sections to make the page feel more visually engaging.

For repetition, your use of consistent fonts, button styles, and layout throughout the site works really well and makes everything feel cohesive. The repeated button design (like “ap lit exam” and “book list”) is especially effective. You could enhance this even more by repeating small visual elements like accent colors or icons.

For alignment, everything is very well organized and centered, which gives the site a polished and structured look. The text, images, and headings all line up nicely. One small improvement could be experimenting with left-aligned text in longer paragraphs to make reading feel a bit more natural.

For proximity, you do a great job grouping related information together, like the book images with the reading list and the exam section with its button. This makes the site easy to navigate. Adding a little more spacing between major sections could help separate content even more clearly.

Overall, your site is very clean, easy to navigate, and feels appropriate for a high school audience. I especially like how organized everything is and how clearly the information is presented. One suggestion for improvement would be to incorporate a bit more color to make the design more visually dynamic.

    Great job!

  2. I think you did an excellent job in making a design that is simple, easy on the eyes, and still has some style. I wouldn't change a thing about it except for the Google Map in the website as it seems to kind of disrupt vibe or repetition as they say. Overall amazing job though!
